Homework

Weekly homeworks are due at the beginning of the Wednesday lectures. Please include your full name, student number, homework number and the course and section number (MATH2443, section 5 or 6). Remember to staple your homework if using more than one sheet of paper.

In order to get a good grade on your homework, you must show correct working and reasoning. Conversely, if you arrive at the correct answer with little indication of working, you will receive very few points. Please put in an effort to ensure that your homework is presentable and can be easily read.

You do not need to submit your solutions to questions listed as practice. If you have access to a mathematical software package, feel free to also attempt the questions requiring computer assistance.

Midterms

There will be three midterm exams, to be held during class. Each exam will be 50 minutes long. You may not use notes or books during the exam. Non-programmable calculators are permitted (i.e. no graphing calculators allowed).

• The first midterm will be held in class on Friday 13 February and will cover sections 14.1 - 14.6. The front page of the exam can be viewed here. Here are the solutions. Approximate grade scale: A: 30 - 40, B: 24 - 29, C: 19 - 23, D: 15 - 18.

• The second midterm will be held in class on Friday 13 March and will cover sections 14.7 - 14.8, 15.1 - 15.4, 15.7. Here are the solutions. Approximate grade scale: A: 30 - 40, B: 24 - 29, C: 19 - 23, D: 14 - 18.

• The third midterm will be held in class on Friday 24 April and will cover sections 15.8 - 15.9, 16.1 - 16.5. Here is a formula sheet for the exam. Here are the solutions. Approximate grade scale: A: 30 - 40, B: 23 - 29, C: 17 - 22, D: 11 - 16.

Final Exam

The final exam will be held in the usual lecture room at 8am - 10am on Monday 4th May (for Section 6) or Tuesday 5th May (for Section 5). It will cover all topics listed in the syllabus. Here is a formula sheet for the exam.
