My Philosophy

You learn math by experiencing math, not copying off a board or reading a book. As your instructor, my job is to foster a safe and welcoming environment of exploration, and within that environment, create opportunities for you to experience the material. It is up to you to take advantage of these opportunities, be they during class time, office hours, or when you are home.

"Never forget that, at the most, the teacher can give you fifteen percent of the art. The rest you have to get for yourself through practice and hard work. I can show you the path but I can not walk it for you.'"
- Tan Soh Tin, Kung Fu Master

Each day of class, come prepared to be active and engaged during a mixture of short lectures, group activities, and group discussion. Outside of class, allot several hours each week for completing homework exercises and problems. If I can see you are working hard, I will be there every step of the way to help you. Don't ever forget, I want to see each any every one of you succeed.

Testimonials

"I will advise students to take this instructors classes in the future because of his teaching methods and personality. This instructor deserves multiple hot peppers on rate my professor."
- an anonymous OU Student, May 2015

"Meyer made lecture fun and interactive. Homework was always long, but Meyer made it so that if you can complete the homework on your own, then you know the material pretty well. The exams were generally pretty long and required a lot of critical thinking, but it did a great job of testing student comprehension of the class material."

"Jeff was always so encouraging, too. He never gave up on us even when we thought we were all doomed."
- an anonymous UofM Student, June 2013

"I also liked the cookies you brought in that one day. I know youre not made of money, but eating cookies everyday would really get my mind in the "math-mood." "
