Gautam Gopal Krishnan, Cornell University Discrete series representations Abstract: In this talk, we will focus on discrete series representations of real reductive Lie groups. The associated variety is an invariant which can be attached to the corresponding irreducible Harish-Chandra $(\mathfrak{g},K)$-modules. These associated varieties can be described in terms of certain combinatorial data; namely the weighted extended Dynkin diagrams. We will discuss a general method to describe these associated varieties (which is a part of joint work with Dan Barbasch) and then see the results for most of the exceptional simple real Lie groups.
