Categorification of the Young Lattice

Categorification is a recent development in mathematics which has already had fruitful applications in representation theory and low-dimensional topology. Roughly speaking, it's the process of upgrading sets/functions/relations to categories/functors/natural transformations, hoping to get new information from the additional structure. In this talk, I'll describe an example involving the Young lattice, a combinatorial object related to the representations of the symmetric groups over the complex numbers.
