The R-S Algorithm and Representation Theory of Finite Groups


After giving an introduction to the basics of representation theory of finite groups, I will discuss Young tableaux, tabloids, and polytabloids, and Specht Modules. Next, I will discuss an interesting combinatorial fact about a basis for the Specht Modules. I will close by proving this fact totally independently of the prior theory using a relatively intuitive algorithm.
